Acacia Wood Wall Shelf Beside the Bed, Set of 2, Floating, 30 x 20 x 8 cm and 40 x 20 x 10 cm, Mounting Hardware Included | Sansoti

A wall shelf next to the bed, not a cabinet on the floor

Not everyone wants a bedside table. Sometimes a wall shelf next to the bed is just right: a place for your book, phone and a glass of water, and nothing else taking up space or sitting empty waiting for things to be put on it. Hang these acacia wood shelves on the wall at a height that suits you, and the floor beneath stays completely clear - handy if a robot vacuum runs around or you simply want to mop under the bed in one go. Available in 30 x 20 x 8 cm and 40 x 20 x 10 cm, and you get two.

Why acacia wood instead of a piece of chipboard

• Solid acacia wood: its own grain and warm brown tones make every shelf look different from the next.
• Choose the height yourself: wall mounting means you can hang it level with your mattress instead of bending down to a cabinet.
• Floor stays clear: nothing to vacuum around, nothing to trap dust between its legs.
• Two sizes: 30 cm or 40 cm wide, both 20 cm deep and 8 to 10 cm thick.
• Set of 2: one on each side of the bed, or one in the bedroom and one in the hallway.
• Screws and wall plugs included: complete with installation instructions, so there’s no extra trip to the hardware store.

Useful beyond the bedroom

Since these are essentially two sturdy wall shelves that are 20 cm deep, you’re not limited to one spot. Next to the bed, they hold a reading lamp and a book; in the hallway, they’re a place to drop your keys and mail; above a desk, they hold a plant and a notepad. Their minimalist Scandinavian design makes them equally at home in modern, country or classic interiors. Mount them on a solid wall using the included screws and wall plugs, and if you have a plasterboard wall, check that you’re using the right plugs for the material. Other than that, there’s nothing to maintain: wipe with a dry cloth and the wood will retain its warm color.
