Water-Based Metallic Paint for Plaster Gold Silver 200 g Including Brush Coverage 1 to 1.2 m2 per Coat Metal Decoration | Sansoti

Paint for plaster that gives a metal look without soaking in

Plaster is thirsty. Apply ordinary paint to it and the first coat disappears into the material, after which you have to apply it three more times - and you never quite achieve the metallic sheen. This water-based metallic paint is intended for plaster, among other materials, and works in thin coats with two hours of drying time between coats. This allows you to build up the sheen over the absorbent surface instead of fighting against it. Available in gold or silver, 200 grams including a brush.

The specifications for this type of work

• Suitable for plaster, wood, metal and decoration: the range of materials in which plaster is explicitly mentioned.
• Water-based metallic paint: can be washed out with water, with no solvent needed at an indoor workbench.
• 200 grams including a brush: coverage of approximately 1 to 1.2 m² per coat, or 5 to 6 m² per kilogram.
• Drying time of 2 hours or more between coats: necessary on absorbent surfaces, where the first coat always turns out thinner.
• Spray, paint or roll: on a plaster relief, spraying or using a brush works better than a roller.
• Gold or silver: two options, both 200 grams with a brush.

Working on an absorbent surface

Expect higher consumption than the nominal coverage: the product specifications explicitly state that consumption varies depending on the surface and its absorbency, and plaster is at the thirsty end of that range. Start with a thin coat that you deliberately do not make fully opaque - this seals the plaster - and then build up the sheen with a second and, if necessary, third coat. On a plaster sculpture or relief, the metallic look comes out best when you let the brush run into the recesses and keep the raised areas slightly thinner: this creates depth instead of an even gold colour.
