Pendant Light for Above a Kitchen Island: Slim, So You Can Hang Several Side by Side

A pendant light above a kitchen island needs to do two things: provide light for the worktop where you stand cutting, and visually separate the island from the rest of the room. With its marble and copper finish, this pendant has deliberately been kept slim at 10 cm in diameter. This allows you to hang two or three side by side along the length of the worktop, instead of using one large shade that blocks the view across the island. Plan Before You Hang the Lights

Take the dimensions into account: each pendant is 10 cm wide and 25 cm high, so allow approximately half a metre between the lights if you hang several. With a worktop at a height of 90 cm, the bottom of the light will generally be at eye level or slightly above - low enough to illuminate the worktop, but high enough that you do not look straight into it. As this is a hardwired connection, it is best to determine the positions before the electrical installation is carried out.
